Abstract

The relative effects of five seed treatments as well as six storage containers on the seed viability and seedling vigour of okro seed were tested. Apron plus seed treatment stored in glass bottles and plastic containers were best. Chemical treatment preserved okro seed better for over 2 months. seed treated with palm oil and stored in earthen pots were however poorest. The results of this work showed that seeds that are pre-treated with recommended chemicals and stored in either sealed glass or plastic bottles, and put under ambient conditions can store for as long as 4 - 6 months.
