Over the years, the perennial low performance of students in the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) English language examinations has been a great concern to parents, teachers and students. This is as result of the importance placed on the language in the National Policy on Education (2014) and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is obvious to every candidate seeking admission that passing English at a credit level in either West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or National Examination Council (NECO) is one of the entry requirements for university education in Nigeria. This study examined the influence of examination anxiety and academic self-efficacy on academic aspiration among senior secondary school students with failure grade in English language in SSCE, using descriptive survey design. Instruments used to collect data included two standardized tests: examination anxiety test and academic self-efficacy scale. The hypotheses were tested using Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient to find the relationship between the independent variables and dependent variable. The result shows that the two independent variables (examination anxiety and self-efficacy) and dependent variable (academic aspiration) are positive predictors of academic aspirations(r=.205, p = .009 and r= .165, p=.035) respectively. Conclusions and recommendations were made in the body of the work.
