Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examined the influence of office automation on job performance of employees in selected public and private universities in Ogun State, Nigeria. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study and two hundred employees were drawn from two universities (one public and one private) in Ogun State through stratified random sampling technique. A self-developed scale tagged “Influence of Office Automation on Job Performance Questionnaire” with a reliability co-efficient of 0.751was used in collecting data to test the two hypothesis postulated which was analyzed using multiple regression analysis and t-test. Findings revealed a significant influence of office automation on job performance of employees (Beta =. 430, t = 6.698, p<.05) while type of university significantly moderated the influence of office automation on job performance for public university ((Beta=. 524, t = 7.275, p, <.05) and non-significant influence for private university (Beta=-. 192, t=1.468, p>.05). Based on the findings, it was concluded that government and management should provide fund for the procurement of the needed office machines in their right quantities and qualities and at the right time while employees themselves should be eager to make use of these machines to improve on their jobs.
